Brokerage FAQs

Why broker with Island Watersports?

Island Watersports has dedicated sale people that work full time to sell your boat. No hassles of meeting strangers or worse getting stood up on appointments, trying to determine what paperwork is needed, or negotiating on price.

Can you sell my boat for the price I want?

While brokering with Island Watersports, your boat will receive a complete mechanical evaluation along with an appraisal. We will suggest pricing to you, but the ultimate pricing decision is always yours!

I still owe on my boat; can you still sell it?

Of course, we can. It is the same process and we will take care of the paperwork and payoff to the bank.

How to you advertise my boat for sale?

We use a wide range of marketing to sell your boat. This includes some of the top websites such as BoatTrader and Boats.com. You we also use social media, print, e-mail blasts, our website, as well as advertising during local shows and events. All of this will allow not only a local audience to see your boat but also customers across the country. We've also exported a handful of boats overseas as well.

Can buyers finance the boat when you sell it?

Yes, and this is a HUGE reason you want to broker your boat with Island Watersports. We work with many banks and can offer customers financing with the most competitive rates. This opens a whole new field of buyers to your boat that is not available when selling by yourself.

Is it expensive to broker a boat with you?

Not at all, in fact our brokerage fees are among the most competitive in the area. More importantly, boats sold on brokerage through a dealer normally sell for more than private party transactions which means you may net more than selling on your own! All brokerage boats are evaluated prior to sell which adds piece of mind for buyers and they are willing to pay more for that. We are also able to offer boats with warranties and financing.

I have an older "project boat" can you still sell that?

Yes, we can. 90% of the boats we broker are what we call 'water ready'. This means the boat is in good mechanical condition and the needed systems and US Coast Guard requirements are working (navigation lights, bilge pumps, etc). We can still sell a project boat on an AS-IS basis where it is advertised as a project that will need repairs.

Can I still use my boat while you are selling it?

Yes, we can broker with your boat on the lot OR with the boat still at your dock. Boats do sell much quicker when on our lot ready to view, sell, and deliver same day, however.

When is the best time to sell my boat?

There is not a correct answer for that. We sell boats year-round. Spring and summer are always a busy time for selling boats, but we still sell a large number of boats in the fall and winter.

How do I start with brokering my boat with you?

Simply give us a call or shoot us an email. Once we have your boat, we will perform our mechanical evaluation and give you an appraisal on the boat. We'll work with you to set the price. Then list the boat for sale and sell it fast!
