Hurricane Irma - Saturday 9-2-17

We've been getting a lot of phone calls regarding this storm.  The bottom line is it is still very early to predict it's path. Thursday or Friday should be a better time to know a more likely path of the storm.  I think it is safe to say the East Coast will feel the effects of this storm in some fashion.  Whether it is a direct hit or just a disturbance in the ocean, I am not sure.  Right now you should prepare your boats and homes.

Here is a brief checklist to go through while we are unsure of the storms path:

• Check condition of all your lines.
  • For more pontoons and small bay boats, we suggest using 1/2" thick dock lines.
  • Make sure you have room for the boat to move with wake and raising tides
• Ensure batteries are charged
• Check float switches and bilge pumps

Of course, the safest place for any boat during a tropical storm is on dry land.  Check our site in the coming days, we will provide updates on the storm and more precautions.   Island Watersports is able to get your boat pulled out of the water and stored safely.  Please remember as the storm approaches, our calls for service increase.  The more advance notice we have from our customers, the more likely we will be able to get to your boat!
